Actually, Due to the increased demand for R-134, the price has gone up. Per my VW Shop. The estimate for the conversion to R-134 went from $270 to $380. I wish Ihad them do it before it went up. Their conversion includes hoses and checking the system end to end. I am seeing my budget dwindle, and trying to find a way to do this on the cheap... Otherwise it will be roll the windows down this summer here in Sunny So Cal!

Why would the price go UP if the patent runs out? More manufacturers would be making it. Unless this is a reference to the conspiracy theory that R-12 was only banned because DuPont's patent ran out on THAT...
