I'm still having troubles with my sliding door popping open. The lock at the rear of the door - in a static check - works perfect. But roll over some uneven ground - pop - it unlocks. The safety catch keeps it from actually opening and sliding backward, but the oof unlatches itself. I took the latch out of the door, and found a very simple device, anodized, hardened steel, with all moving parts pivoted steel againset steel. Any wear in the parts cannot be compensated in the latch. It's remove and replace time. I guess that's where I am. I ordered the latch from Camelback in Phoenix, AZ for $30.40. a bit steep but I didn't want any used parts in there. I have a well used part, and it's toast. This is one of those cases where new parts are in order. Don't want to have to deal with a wornout part from another van. Should have the issue resolved next week. John Rodgers 88 GL Driver |
