Subject:      rear axle nut - thinking ahead

The right rear axle nut appeared "loose" after removing cotter pin, although
it's not actually loose...but
did move 1 inch. back and forth BY HAND?  I removed it too easily......

Obviously...not tightened enough over last 5 yrs.....

So......I cannot "mark" because last point was not tight enough.

So.....Here's my plan...tell me better method....

Retighten using 5-6 ft. bar, I weigh #230 at 2.5 - 3 ft. out should that
work?

PS.  I've seen the math formula (using your body weight....anyone have
that)!

PSS.  I'm assuming this axle nut tight is critical to long life of bearing,
correct?
