I can't speak of Canadian rules, but the same bolt pattern wouldn't matter in Virginia (if not other places in the US). The TIRES on a trailer can not be passenger/truck tires, they must be TRAILER tires to be legal (as I said, at least in Virginia).

Curiously the load rating on trailer tires (I was looking at 205/75R14's) is quite sufficient for vanagons (1800 pounds, C load rating). But if you are pulled over with those tires on your car or truck you'll likely get a ticket from Virginia Troopers for a safety violation. (and vice versa for car/truck tires on a trailer.)

I don't know if trailers have different rules for WHEELS in addition to tires.
