A leak down test will quickly pinpoint whether you have a valve or ring problem. My bet is valve. Then you need to determine why the valve failed. Were the guides replaced? Where the seats cut? Something was wrong.

Last week I posted a question about stalling at stop lights. After further tests, I did a compression test and found #1 at 30, the others at 130-140. Had the valves replaced about 5,000 miles ago. Assuming bad valves, do all 4 have to be replaced or can just the bad one? Further, based on the compression test, could it be bad rings on the cylinders and not the valves?
