Subject: Rusted/stuck bleeder on '82 Westy brakes

A new friend with the above Westy has a problem loosening/removing the bleeder on his left front brake. It's been way too long since I've worked on the earlier brakes... seems he has double pistons and is worried about applying heat to the area around the bleeder for fear of toasting the rubber boots when trying to loosen the bleeder.

Any suggestions that I might pass along to him? He is a good distance away and not online. He in his late sixties or early seventies working on his back in a barn. He told me it took him two weeks to drop the fuel tank to check on possible leaks. If I get enough info I may just make the drive and go over to help out this old timer. He has had splitties, bays, an '84 ( which burned to the ground), and now has the ac Westy for towing behind his RV. He is a REAL character! Retired post man and once he gets wound up you can't get him to stop talking. It may be easier for me just to go and do the brakes than to try to tell him how... we'll see. TIA for any help on this.
