Hi William,
The internet represents different things to different people.
If all you see of the internet is pop-up porn links and endlessly eBay
auctions, I agree with you. A little of that goes a long way.
To me, the internet is for communication. Communication with Family and
Friends, and for learning about topics of interest and world events. If
I'm on the road in my bus for a week at a time, I appreciate the
ability to reconnect to this resource and rediscover what is going on
in the world. Perhaps I have a mechanical issue to research, or I want
to know how people are doing at home, or simply let folks know where
we're at. It's cheap and easy to use the net to accomplish this.
Eric's mention of Starbucks is a very helpful piece of data. How it's
used is up to the individual.
