The 4 wheel auto transporter available from U-Haul is totally adequate for Vanagons. I have used it many times for passenger vans and Westys.

I just checked with U-Haul and their records show the Westy at 3450 pounds. A passenger van weighs even less. They also approve of using the Navigator as a tow vehicle. They quoted me just over $300 for a four day rental from LA to Medford, OR.

So, make a reservation, and be sure to tell your friends to drive more slowly than usual and leave loads of following room (which may be easier said than done on I-5).

Enjoy your new Vanagon!
