Well Tim You are correct.

Your coach being an 83 does have all copper air lines which were, and
are prone to fracturing.

Bluebird Coach Co. changed the copper to Synflex air line in the mid
80's due to this problem.

I would seriously consider changing this if I were you if the factory
decided to alter this due to a serious saftey issue.

And especially being that your coach is 22 years old.

One day the brakes are going to set at speed and you'll have 4 flat
sided driver's, and scare the hell out some folks that are behind you.

It might have been a selling point at the time, but not really.
Most of all class 6, 7, and 8 vehicles used short runs of copper line
off the compressor.

They all quit this practice back in the late 60's (other than Bluebird )
because of fracturing air lines.

Prevost uses all synflex, and steel
( one exception being the propane lines )

All the non-flexible air lines on my Wanderlodge (including the brake
lines) as well as the domestic water supply lines, diesel fuel lines and
the propane lines are made of copper tubing. Its a selling point when
advertising the vehicle for sale; only hi-end coach producers spend the
$$ to install copper instead of steel or plastic,>>
