The distinction I want to impart with my use of the term "delay" is that the engine isn't missing or misfiring in any way, it's as if the engine remains in idle mode for a second or two after the throttle is depressed--this is a safety issue more than anything else (pulling out in front of cross traffic). I've owned an '88, an '80 and an '82 diesel Vanagon and none of these exhibited similar behavior. I suspect maybe the airflow meter flap is sticking.

BTW: With this list, when I hit the reply button in Gmail, the reply address loads up the individual's email addy rather than the list addy. Is that normal behavior for this list? I belong to a couple of Mercedes lists, but replies are automatically sent to the list.
