Hey, let's not universally trash SUVs! In a lot of ways, a Vanagon is the ultimate "SUV" (especially when you consider a Syncro). My 1991 Isuzu Trooper is just as brick-like as my 88 Westy (it's even the same color :-), is just as underpowered, and gets about the same gas mileage. Having owned 4 Troopers, an 80s Volvo, and a Vanagon, I guess I'm a fan of boxlike vehicles.
