Subject: Towing Available-My van or yours? Plus, cheap Westys.
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

In another of a long series of Vanagon-searching jaunts, I will be traveling from my home in Minneapolis to Virginia to pick up a van which will be towed home. This time I have borrowed a friend's RV which has almost unlimited vehicle towing capabilities. I will have my tow bar along for flat towing.

I have for sale (with towing available) several projects that have been sitting around long enough for me to see the reality of my never completing them. This is your opportunity to get a Westy really cheap! How about an 81 Westy, needs engine work, etc for $500? Or an 85 Westy, needs engine/transmission, body work, etc, has a/c, for $500? Both have good interiors, poptops, etc. Pictures of both vans will be loaded onto a web site very soon.

If there are no takers for either of my Westys, then the towing capacity could be available if any Listmember needs a free (or almost-free, depending upon the hassle factor) tow along my route. Any van can be towed, although automatics would need to have their rear drive axles removed, or else a U-Haul trailer ($) would be required.

I would also consider hauling special Vanagon stuff if you can convince me that the effort is for a good cause.

Please contact me ASAP as I will be leaving next Monday, 5-9. The route is anticipated to be from Minneapolis to Waterloo, St. Louis, Nashville, Spartanburg, Charlotte, Virginia Beach, and DC. I will then be heading to NYC, Cleveland, Grand Rapids, Chicago, Madison, and back to Minneapolis. Since I will be towing my new van for this stretch, I will consider additional towing only from DC to the NYC area, as my intrepid group is willing to drive the VA van that far.

If any Listees would like me to stop for a visit, or park and plug in overnight, let me know.
