VW Westfalia Vanagon Camper Bus Scam BUYER BEWARE (berkeley) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reply to: see below Date: 2005-05-09, 4:14PM PDT
Buyer alert on a very tall guy with reddish hair currently claiming his name is Moses Gabriel. It sounds like he has a russian accent. His craigslist postings are often in slightly broken english with misspellings and have minimal information. He seems to deal strictly with VW Campers of all sorts. Mechanics in Berkeley appear to be familiar with the tactics of "Moses" and his "colleagues." He does the most minimum amount of repair on the VWs that is possible and then unloads them with possibly dangerous problems that cannot be perceived during a test drive. It is possible that some of these vehicles are stolen. The addresses he gives on the registration are always fake. It is suspected he has a very convincing looking fake ID. When you see his vans on the street they have sparse signage. Usually just a For Sale sign with a cell# and no other information. Although if there is other information the handwriting definitely looks like that of someone who writes latin characters oddly... suggesting that it is not his native alphabet. He changes his cell number frequently to keep the people he has screwed from keeping up with him. He is seriously abusing the trust and community of craigslist and hopefully that can be brought to light.
