No, in 85+ when VW put in the brake fluid level switch they removed the hydraulic sensing part of the circuit and used pressure switches with fewer wires on the master cyl. I think you have the operation of the fluid level switch backwards. Jumpering the wires that go to the fluid switch forces a low fluid condition reading. Unplugging the connector to the fluid cap should force a good fluid level reading, with no jumper. Mark Ed wrote: >I checked the switch at the handbrake.
