There was a period of time when most of VWs brake parts were made in Canada, at least for Golf/Jetta models. The calipers on both my 85 Jettas are made in Canada. Many of the OEM shoes & pads I've seen are also made in Canada. Of the 3-4 sets of Vanagon shoes I have, all are glued, no rivets.
