You may find this hard to believe but it is true. Yes the unplugging will work in lieu of a retune for altitude. BTW if you have a rotary mazda, I have rigged two of them with switches in the dash for the fuel pump. It seems as they get old and lose compression they are prone to flooding before starting even at low altitude. Found that fix in a mazda list. Lists are good!
