Another cause is poor injector spray pattern and deposits on the back of the intake valves. The deposits absorb some of the fuel causing the lean miss-stall.

>>Hi,

My 87 syncro has been stalling quite often right after it starts.. doesnt seem to matter if the engine is hot or cold, and doesnt happen every time. It basically acts like it is not getting any fuel, stutters and loses power, the dies.

All I have to do to get it go after the stall is simply turn the ignition off, then back on... and im on my way, running fine. Sometimes it requires two re-starts.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jeff,

I've been through this and still have a problem with it now and again. It is related to throttle-body switch that rests (stangely enough) under the throttle body. I have adjusted mine several times but something keeps going awry. I think that the throttle plate itself is worn and sticks, and this sometimes keeps the switch from opening and closing properly. I am thinking of buying a good working throttle body with an untampered with switch intact to see if this will remedy the problem.

Good luck.

By the way, does anyone out there have a good throttle body and throttle body switch that is intact and untampered with that they would be willing to sell for a reasonable price?
