You're not likely to get many answers to this question as there aren't too many people who have had troubles with their auto trannies ... not compared to the number of problems with the 4 speeds anyway.

As to prevention of blowing transmission cooler seals ... make sure the engine isn't over pressurizing the cooling system through leaky internal headgaskets or cracked heads.
