First if it's just a lite noise, maybe it's only your break pads rubbing, mine always do it backing up while turning on a quiet pavement lot. No big deal. If it gets louder (once hot) and as your turn deeper.... try this.

Every year before the big trip and as a regular seasonal Maintenance. I get my Syncro up on her ramps. I get out my injection needle ($10 most flaps) and put the needle on the end of my grease gun with a moly cartridge in the gun. I give about 10 pumps to each CV boot. Think of the profile of your CV boots as this shape MMn. The needle goes in the SIDEWALL of the smaller end (n), Not the top or bottom folds. Very little will ever come out this puncture, it's sort of self sealing. Once up to speed on the road, excess grease will be slung by centrifugal force into the CV ball race, forcing out older grease, which will sling out the ends of the boot. If very little comes out, your joint was dry and you really needed the grease. Next year when you go to do it again. The joints with very little sling out will need 10 more pumps, the ones with less sling out, maybe 8 pumps. You'll be able to find the small needle holes if you look closely for a small grease spot, and if you are careful, your needle will slide right back into the old holes. I have 140,000km on my original boots and all 8 CV's are quiet. A little sloppy/greasy around them, but wipeable and in good shape.

Hey I'm back.......Yeah I know where have I been, Off and on the list for years, digesting, archive diving & drilling. So many spin off lists now. Good to see some good heads are still about... Joel, Mark, Alistair etc...

don't forget to wave V RR

Cynosure 87 Syncro Westy..... my womb away from the womb.
