To operate an RV with the standard type tanks inside (and that included my 5 pounder) is illegal according to NFPA codes. However, portable devices have exemptions. Most fire codes have the 1 pound disposables under the portable devices rules for use in ventilated areas. (not for bathrooms or bedrooms) When I use my five pound tank, it is attached to the fridge and sits outside the van (portable fridge). Rest of my system is 1 pound bottles. jimt On 5/16/05 11:09 AM, "Alan Sinclair" <alan@DETERMINISTICNETWORKS.COM> wrote: >> I realize there'd be a loss of space in putting a 'standard' bottle in a >> Westy, but what are the other pros and cons to converting? > > the big issue is that you need the propane container > OUTSIDE the vehicle -- a small leak inside, mixed > with air = explosion > > alan |
