So let's look a little more closely at the $35K Westy syncro. Make it your "recreational" vehicle and assume you travel ~10Kmi per year and camp 20 days per year in the Westy. Twenty days at 50$us /day average is $1000 in hotel costs. 5 years and it has 100KMi on it and is worth $20K in todays frogskins. Cost you 3K$ in depreciation saved you 1K$ in hotel bills alone not to mention the peas and quiet. During the first 3 years you have the transmission and motor exchanged or rebuilt under warranty. Add $3K to the $20K to account for the new running gear and it's an amazing bargain compared to any other RV thing. However, I already have a customized moneypit/fishing cabin/ski cabin/mallwart accommodation or I'd be on it like a weasel on a worm. Mikey! here's your chance to cash in that M3 profit. |
