i love my van, but sometimes i'm a little annoyed that it couldn't have been engineered to be a bit more reliable. the new york times just reported that toyota and gm got top marks in the jd powers poll of 2005 vehicles. this inspired me to look at vehicles from 1990, the earliest vehicles for which jd powers has statistics online. i picked three comparisons that seemed relavant to me. the rankings below are for the "long-term" (4-5 years) reliability. we could do worse... jeep volkswagen grand ford toyota vanagon wagoneer aerostar landcruiser Mechanical Dependability XXXoo XXooo XXXoo XXXoo Feature & Accessory Dependability XXooo XXooo XXooo XXXXo Body & Interior Dependability XXXoo XXooo XXXoo XXXoo
