John,

John;

I think we all know you weren't bashing the Saudi people, who of course have little or no say so in what their government does or how it conducts its business. We here in this country all know how THAT feels. We know you were just passing along a post about something that seems a good idea but that was based on an insidious and BAD idea, the false statement that the Saudis are boycotting American goods. The post (which you should ALWAYS check out at snopes.com) was bogus like 99.99 percent of them are.

The problem is our demand for oil, not the supply or where it comes from.

If people in this country want the price of gas to go down (they don't know it but price is the least of their worries) they need insist on a world that requires less driving, not on boycotts of our providers!

An interesting crystal ball for the future of automotive energy is the cost of parts that allow conversion of vanagon gas to diesel:

Year ago Six months ago Today Flywheel $35 $60 $100

Intermediate Plate ? $15 Unobtainable

Engine $125 $250 Mounts

These are representative prices from ebay and other sources I've dealt with. You could pay more or less in the past or at present, but the trend is there.

Jim
