heheheheheh ... Made me sit up and take notice, too.

At least with Vanagons ... we don't confuse them with terms like "Hood" (British Top) when they would call what covers the engine the "Bonnet" or "fenders" which they would call "wings".

I suppose just referring to the "glovebox" from time to time or the "bumpers" is confusing enough.
