Subject: Re: Behind the reefer - a clever fan mod

FWIW.....I saw a very clever, simple, and inexpensive "mod" recently while interviewing attendees at Syncro de Mayo about their favorite "Upgrades"

Craig Drillok had installed a computer type muffin fan into the plastic frame where the City Water Inlet was previously located .(how many times have you used that thing?)j

The inside portion of the black plastic frame had been cut out and the fan installed there so it would exhaust hot air from behind the fridge to the outside of the van....rather than just circulate it around behind the fridge...like most of the previous fan mods I've seen do.

Craig also installed a switch to the fan so he could shut the fan off at night when camping if the noise of the fan was disturbing his sleep.

He also had a little short wire or string from the top screw to the outside flap to keep the flap open when needed. I thought this part could use a little more refinement....perhaps some kind of a little arm added to the inside of the flap to prop it open when using the fan but out of site when the flap was down.

Craig reported significantly improved cooling in his fridge.
