Search on this part # at busdepot.com for some more info, this is the # specified in EKTA for 86-88 Syncro:

251919501

It appears there is a "D" version of this part # which fits the WBX, along with several Golf, Jettas, etc. Must be just the gas versions, as I've never seen a sender like this on a diesel.
