Here are a few of our favourites in no particular order:

In BC: -Pachena Bay Campground, near Bamfield. Spectacular sandy beach, day trips to Bamfield about 20 minutes away. -Schoen Lake Prov. Park - small site, spectacular mountain views, canoeing & hiking around the lake. -Premier Lake Prov. Park - large & busy, typically the type of site we avoid, but it is fabulous for kids, need a boat or canoe/kayak yo fully appreciate. We have spent 10 days here at a stretch and not tired of it. -Green Point, Pacific Rim Natl. Park - we haven't actually stayed here for years (too busy), but if you haven't been to Long Beach, I recommend this as the best way to experience it. Nice private sites, and a 10 minute walk down to one of the nicest beaches anywhere. -Miracle Beach Prov. Park - while we're on the beach theme, again a very busy one, so often not our first choice, but worth the crowds, especially with kids. One of the nicest beaches on the East side of Vancouver Island. -Strathcona Prov. Park - two very nice large campsites on the lake, and a large network of alpine trails.

And for day tripping/hike in camping: -any of the beaches along the Juan de Fuca Trail. Two choices of campgrounds along the way. Or hike the trail, 3-4 days. It is magnificent! -Bamfield area. Lots to do on foot or kayak in this area. -Cape Scott Prov. Park - a few day hikes, but mostly overnight trips.

Most of our real favourites I'd rather not mention; they are quite secluded, and difficult to find, just the way we like it. If you can find the junction of the Klanawa River and Tsocowis Creek, then you have found one of them...

Still trying to decide we should camp in the rain this weekend, or stay home and work on the conversion project...
