Well, after careful inspection of the suspicious injector I noticed that it is definately not OEM, no VW logo, no part number etc. I was also very careful when pulling the injectors from the cylinder (the seals were still stuck to the block) so I'm confident the tip did not fall inside but instead it was never there to begin with. If my assumptions are incorrect, I'll report about it tomorrow when I fire up the beast. I think I will be in the market for an injector, or two if as I've heard it is better to replace in pairs.
