I just replaced my antenna as well, for the second time. Bus Depot sells two versions of the antenna, be sure to buy the more expensive version the cheap one did not last a year.

Anyway, the antenna has some pretty specific metal tabs that allow it to sit properly in the antenna hole on the vanagon hood (if you can call 8" of sloping metal a hood). This is in addition to the little plastic piece that allows it to sit upright as the hole is at an angle.

My advice is take the antenna you have back to Canadian Tire and buy the "deluxe" Bus Depot version.

I managed to get the old one out but and the new after marketm non VW one in( bought from Canadian Tire). however in my infinite wisdom I through out the little plastic piece that was flush against the body of the vehicle in the old one. Does anybody sell this piece or is there an alternative antenna available in Canada? Thanks Patrick 85 westy 1 month from legally being back on the road from a 1 1/2 year off!!! >
