One of the main reasons to keep all tanks outside is that UNREGULATED propane pressure is up around 200 psi when its even slightly warm like 75 degrees. its still well over 100 psi even if cold.

Any small micro leak with that much pressure will fill your van in no time.

Conversely the lines coming INTO the van for the fridge and stove are regualted down to 1 psi and will still fill the van but it takes much more in the way of a leak by comparison. Even a loose fitting with only 1psi may NOT leak but with 100 psi it will hisssss like a snake.
