Krylon Fusion Plastic Paint is amazing stuff, and it's made specificly to paint plastic. Just follow the prep guide & you should not be dissappointed with the results.

Dash parts (used) are fairly inexpensive, especially here in the north east where the sun does not eat them up. Check ebay and email sellers with other items from the year that you are looking for, usually there is a whole van out back waiting to be picked clean.

I've always liked the air cooled Vanagons for their simplicity. A while back I found an 81Westy for a buddy looking for a camper . So far he's loaned it to me several times when mine was out of service for repairs. I'm still waiting to return the favor.
