Actually, tripping a relay with a propane detector would be a *really* bad idea. Like any mechanical switch, a relay produces a small spark when it opens or closes. With a van-full of propane, this is what we call a "detonator". If you want to trigger something off a propane detector, use a solid-state switching circuit, not a relay!!!
