> I've got a leak by the manifold in the cooling system on a '96 Olds > Cutless Supreme with 3.1L engine. John, I repaired one of these for a friend, and found they commonly leak coolant through the intake manifold gasket, where it winds up in the oil. The only fix is a new (supposedly redesigned) gasket. The $400 you were quoted sounds about right - it took me about eight hours, though I'm sure someone who's seen one of these before must be quicker. VW content - I remember thinking at the time how nice and simple the waterboxer is to work on. Its myriad of exiernal coolant pipes is a genius design, compared with running coolant passages through the intake manifold! Angus |
