Subject: Pressure Bleeding the Clutch slave/master

>> Will a mini-vac pump work to bleed air from the clutch hydralic system after replacing master/slave cylinder? The mini-vac in a suction pump for self brake bleeding and the like which is pumped by hand. Or does the system need to be pressure bled with a pressure type pump attacted to the master cylinder reservoir? If it's the latter any suggestions for a place to get one. Several FLAPS look at me like I'm nuts when I ask and keep trying to sell me a one-man bleederfor $6 (this is basically a cup and a hose).

Jeff, the Bentley says you must use a pressure- or vacuum-bleeder, but the Haynes claims you don't. I used a vacuum-bleeder to great effect when replacing my cylinders. You may find helpful my tech write-up on the procedure: http://www.vanthology.com/1Layout/Technical/Clutch1.html

If you want to build your own pressure-bleeder, as mentioned by George Goff, check this out: http://www.bmw-m.net/TechProc/bleeder.htm

Good luck!
