Subject: New Sliding Door Lock
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

After 17 years the ol' Red Brick has a new sliding door lock.

That lock has been a problem off and on for the last few years, occasionally popping loose and letting the door slide back while on the open road, and on a couple of ocassions causing a nasty surprise - something falling out. And the door never sealed really well. Lots of wind noise.

Not long ago it got to popping open every few miles, just aggravating the stew out of me. I finally ordered a new lock.

Today I nstalled that new lock. It has a teflon sleeve in the groove for the locking post in the door jamb, and a steel tab welded to the outside edge of the lock. This tab is not on the old lock, nor is the teflon sleeve..

Now the door locks solidly, and it really draws down tight. I no longer have the wind noise with the seal that has always plagued me.

Hallelujah!!!!!

I recommend a new lock for everyone. If not that, then try getting that teflon sleeve. Even that would help a lot.

Regards,

John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
