The real danger comes when filling the gasoline tank with the fridge on. There's always lots of highly flammable gasoline vapor floating around during this operation. If it comes in contact with the flame in the fridge, the results can be catastrophic.

Never, ever, ever pull a Westie with a lit fridge up to gas pumps. This is *just* as smart as smoking while fueling.
