I measured out 3.5 qts.

I have just started tearing down my old tran and now realize that I am probably looking at a bunged up seal. My fault when installing probably. There is a lot of leverage put on that shaft if you shift around very much off of center which will either crimp that seal or move it.

Time to plan a fun disassembly again.
