Biking season is short here in Newfoundland, and there are hills galore; but I have hauled my bike (inside) to Bus-Fusion and P.E.I. and used it lots . A bit of a pain to carry inside, and expensive to go with racks; But last night I saw a beautiful 6-speed, 20 inch wheel; folding bicycle at Wal-Mart for $149.95 CAD. I think I can make a bag out of a cheap tarp and carry it on top in the luggage rack. That may be a cheap way out? Kappy 88-89 Westies

What would be wrong with bringing a bike? I'm no hard-core cyclist, but I use mine a lot. I'd hate to be dependent on the van to get everywhere - it's a big lumbering thing that consumes gas and needs to be parked. The bike is much better for exploring cities, and often for exploring national parks (great in the Badlands) and other places. Besides, getting exercise on the road can be tricky, having the bike is excellent.
