Subject: WTB - upper coolant crossover pipe - 1.9L WBX
Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed

On the eternal subject of cooling your wasserboxer:

! spotted a pinhole leak in the upper coolant crossover pipe on my 1.9, this is the metal pipe that goes across the top of the engine (P/N 025 121 081F, according to ETKA).

Looks like a new replacement is NLA from VW or the various list vendors, has anyone got a spare in good condition they'd be willing to part with?

I brazed the pinhole (and three more that I opened up while cleaning the thing up), and gave the whole thing a coat of POR-15 afterward, I'm hoping that'll get me through Westies in the Woods this weekend (Stokes State Forest, New Jersey - ya'll come!).

Even if my first-time-ever-totally-amateur brazing job holds up, I expect more rust-through to happen somewhere, so I'd like to get a replacement (preferably from a van that didn't spend most of it's life in the rust belt).

This is the pipe that connects to a rubber hose from the plastic H on the left, runs to a (smaller) heater hose low on the right side, and has a tiny nipple that connects (through a thin hose) to the plastic bleeder on the firewall.
