I seem to be using that technique quite often lately on short "get out of town" trips to "where ever I end up". Throw minimal items into van, stop at grocery store if necessary, stop for gas and then gone in general direction of "where ever". I keep blankets, coffee, coffee pot, toilet paper, soap, toothbrush, and water in the van at all times.

Now if I could figure out how to keep the peanut butter and bread loaded up.
