Subject: Re: can I put 6 1/2" speakers in a Westy?

Hi All, Yesterday, I install two 4in Sony's into the front of my 90 Carat. I dont know if any one else has done it this way, And, I have always used the New speaker covers, which had me extending the door handles. But this time, I just took my side cutters, & cut the wheel spoke attachments off of the Vanagon speakers that hold their integrated covers onto them. Using the original VW covers, I then drilled new holes into the Sony speakers, just inboard (towards center) from the original holes. Pushing the drill bit toward the original holes, making them elongated. Used 10-24 X 1/2" bolts & They mounted right up. I will use black paint to paint the bolts. Looks Stock, Sounds Great! I also have a good amp, w/ subwoofers w/tweaters in the back. Rock on, farm out, right arm & all that good wavy gravy s*** :o) JC....

If you have successfully installed 6 1/2" speakers, please share how you did it. Include photos if any.

If you cannot fit 6 1/2" speakers, what is the largest size that can be easily used in a Westy.
