I picked up a spare vanagon real cheap specifically for the parts on it. Several ended up on my van after I got rear ended. The rear hatch, lights, license plate lights, deck lid, and lifts for a few. Also the second spare that I picked up comes in handy for rough terrain trips. The fuel pump, starter, distributor, and coil went into the spare parts cabinet in the van. The tran which wasnąt very good was used as a core when I drove over to pick up a rebuilt one. The ecu and other parts of the engine that were good have been sold off. The CV axels were repacked and rebooted with one on the shelf and one replaced one that went out on my van. The center seat is in my maint/shop area for furniture. The mirrors have long ago replaced my vans mirrors.

I definitely got my moneys worth out of the parts from that van but as for any actual cash... About 350US total in cash. About 500US in parts I didnąt have to buy. And I still have plenty of parts left. Paid 600US for the van so I came out way ahead.

As for parting for business....i occasionally put parts up as available on request or on ebay mostly just to put them back in use rather than make any money off of them.

BTW the money in that van is the engine and all of the computer/exhaust/attachments/mounts etc. someone contemplating a conversion would love to get their hands on a completed known working setup.
