This suggests that the flat gray hubcaps were added in 1985.

You see, Mellow Yellow has three of the flat gray ones, and one other mis-matched gray plastic VW hub cap. So I'm thinking I would like to match them up. I could get four chrome moonies, or just find a fourth gray plastic disc.
