Sounds like the motors aren't getting power. I don't have my Bentley
handy so I can't be much help with which color wires do what, but I've
taken apart a couple mirrors so I know what's happening in general.
Instead of having two motors in each mirror, on for up-down and one
for left-right, those criminal mastermind VW engineers decided to use
one motor with a solenoid-activated "transmission". Normally, the
motor gears are set to move the mirrors left-right. When you press up
or down, the switch energizes the solenoids so the motors "switch
gears" to move the mirrors up-down. My guess is that it's either the
wire that feeds the motors is loose somewhere, or the switch is
slightly hosed. The solenoids are getting power, but not the motors.
Since it's happening on both sides, I reckon your mirror motors are
OK.
