I think that is a wonderful idea, especially since searching the archives via dial-up is SOOOOO slow. I have broadband at work but on the road or at home it is dial-up and usually I only get 34k anyway. David Higginbotham 82 Westfalia Silk Hope, NC

I've been meaning to throw this idea in the ring for a while. given the fact that the archives are a regularly used source for maintaining and knowing "everything" there is to know about our beloved bricks, why not store it offline on a couple of DVDs? I reckon at 4GB capacity most of the content will fit in two DVDs. All we would have to figure out is how to include the front-end searching capability. You could then pull over in the middle of nowhere, flip open your laptop and voila! vanagon archives on demand. Just a though, what do y'all think? Jorge |
Please note - During the past 17 years of operation, several gigabytes of
Vanagon mail messages have been archived. Searching the entire collection
will take up to five minutes to complete. Please be patient!
