The net-net is the wheels should to be CNC machined to correct the defect or discarded. remachining wheels makes them more expensive than buying a correct set to begin with. Hi All, What is All of this CNC, CNC, CNC, BS?? Computer aided machines are faster, And for production work Darn Near Perfect.....Once the bugs are worked out, But.... It's Still in the Skill of the machinist who sets them up, And their Experience, As to how the job turns out. And, secondly, as to the Quality of the machine doing the job. I've seen tons of crashes on CNC machining centers. Many more than Manual machines. I would not use my Craftsman Drill press to redo my wheels, Simply for the fact that they are not built well, have lots of slop, And the final job would probably have a lot of chatter in it. CNC Or Manual Machine, It's the Human Running it that matters. That said, I would not trade a "CNC Operator" And his/her CNC machine" For a qualified Machinist with nothing but a hammer, crescent wrench & a file any day. My rant for this lovely Fri Morning ! :o) John C... |
