I did my Benz wheels about 4 years ago on a drill press, you take off very little material when doing these mods. Both cuts are self centering, so its pretty easy to do. I used standard 14-mm conical chrome lug nuts that you can pick up at any FLAPS on my Camper, I used a 14-mm stud kit on the front rotors instead of using the lug bolts. I keep a set of stock ball seat lugnuts in the Camper for the spare steel wheel. The countersink bit should be available at any machine shop supply house, I spent about $18.00 for mine. If you would like to borrow it, give me your address and I will ship it to you. You can hang on to it and send it to the next person that needs it. Pay it forward. Tim . . . Hi Tim & Thanks!, I'm not crystal clear though, on the term "conical," that we are using here. Are we saying, that this indicates a curved surface? Or, does it just mean cone shaped, or (straight, (flat) ) Tapered? In the machine shop jargon, we would just say tapered, unless there is a radius involved? Is it just a 60 degree tapered hole? thanks, John C... |
