It's possible that you inadvertently reversed the left and right outer headlight brackets. They're completely reversible EXCEPT for the little springy clip jaws that grab the outer pins of the grill. I found this out the "fun" way. I am becoming an expert at removing parts, switching them left-to-right, and re-installing them :). As for the inner set of pins, I suspect most people just let 'em float.
