I've been getting to this point again - my regular mechanic re-replaced the oil sender switch with a VW model and added 20-50 - so now the oil light only comes on when idling instead of all the time. He'd replace the head gaskets for me, but also recommended a rebuild. He checked with GoWesty who will send one to the NW for about $5000. What ever happened to the good old days when you just rebuilt the engine for a couple thousand. Does that still happen? I did look at some Subaru's and Volvos yesterday....but...
