Technically It's not legal (in the US) to do that, replacing the auto-stop vale with the older style fill valve with remote bleeder. Yes is will work but the tank was not designed for the older style. I've spoken at lengths to manchster tank about this. I only say it because here in the North East places seem to be a little more uptight about it.

If you are going to rebuild the valve again you will need to vent the gas beforehand. As Karl pointed out to me. If very important to clean any grime build-up on the brass piston when rebuilding the valve. Also use some silicone grease on the "o" rings.

I had to remove the tank -- be prepared, it's heavier than it looks -- and take it to a shop where this old style of valve was replaced with a new valve and manual bleeder valve above where the return tube exited the tank. Cost $45 -- $30 for the new valve(s).
